Design Not So Within Reach

An incredibly interesting article about the rise and fall of Design Within Reach from Fast Company. I've always found this store to be a wierd anomaly. Just based on the title, you'd think an average person would be able to afford anything in there, but alas, this was not the case or meaning behind the naming.

I dunno, i still think Ikea has em beat for democratic, affordable design.

Grand Theft Archie?

The classic comic strip character Archie is getting his own videogame, that happens to look and feel like the grand theft auto franchises. I wonder if he'll carjack people, or take over gang turf. He'll probabally still stay torn between Bettie and Veronica while he drives around Riverdale rockin out to Josie and the Pussycats and getting into highjinks with his buddies.

White House Ruscha

Super cool slide show from the New York Times. The White House released a list of 45 artworks that are on loan to the Obamas from several Washington museums. It is a big, broad selection, mostly modern and contemporary paintings and sculptures. Shown here, "I think I'll ... " by the California artist Ed Ruscha. It deals with the subject of indecision.
